About Winston

Meet Winston!! This sweet guy was saved from a busy shelter and is looking for a family of his own! Winston is a approx 8 year old, male, boxer/ bully breed mix. He does not act like an 8 year old and is still healthy, happy and full of life! He weighs approximately 45 pounds and is still a bit underweight, he would be at his best weight after gaining another 5-10 pounds. He is neutered, microchipped and vaccinated. He is also heartworm negative. Winston is extremely friendly and has a wide open and loving personality. He has done very well inside the home and has been perfect with house trained. He goes to the door to tell you he wants to go out. He is also crate trained but will whine a bit. He really just wants to be right beside you. Winston is working on his leash manners and once reminded to calm down does walk well. He knows how to sit and lay down. He has done well with dogs of all sizes, cats, and even a pushy little potbelly pig. He can get overly excited and would do best with dogs that are okay with an excited friend. His only negative behavior is trying to hump other dogs however he is extremely responsive to correction. Once told no he immediately stops and doesn't keep trying. Winston has done well with children of all ages and has not showed signs of aggression with people over food or toys. Due to him coming to us in a skinny and starved condition we do not know how he would do sharing food with other dogs. We recommend feeding him inside of his crate separate from other animals. He has a higher energy level. He will calm down and lay around with his family but would do best with an active family dedicated to giving him the exercise he needs. He does not act his age, he's young at heart! If you are looking for a sweet and well behaved older gentleman then he's your guy! Located in Portsmouth VA.
