About Maddie

Maddie is a beautiful three-year-old, 48 lb. pit/terrier mix ready to finally find her happily furever after! Help her put a smile back on her face...she has a gentle soul and sadly had a difficult start to her life as she was used as a backyard breeding dog. She arrived to the shelter in pretty rough shape. Her eyes tell a story of neglect and she desperately wants to find love and a safe place to call home. Maddie is a timid and shy pup but will warm up for attention and love never having had that before. She is afraid of every noise and sound and will take extra time to decompress. As you pet her, her tail slowly begins to wag and she begins to trust you. Maddie is very sweet and affectionate...she just needs someone who will take it slow and help her feel safe. She will make a wonderful addition to a quiet and relaxed adult-only home. She is dog friendly and has made friends with a little shepherd pup. Maddie loves to roam the yard and lay in the sun. She does fine on a a leash and likes her walks. A fenced yard is a must. Adopters that are NOT gone long hours are highly preferred. Maddie is currently being fostered in North Carolina as she finishes her heartworm treatment. She anxiously waits for her freedom ride up north to find her furever family.
