About Joan (east)

Hi, my name is JOAN - ID#A4368855. I am a spayed female, white and brown American Pit Bull Terrier mix, and I weigh about 44 lbs. The shelter staff think I am about 5 years old, and I have been at the shelter since Nov 17, 2019. Joan such a cutie and knows it! She is a wiggle butt and loves people. She knows 'sit' and loves her toys. Joan has been adopted a couple of times, but has difficulty getting along with other dogs in the home. She did well on a hike, friendly, coexisted with a polite male dog, but lunged at other dogs. Here are some notes about Joan from volunteers: 3/6/2020 WALK Friendly and excited in kennel; moderate pull/return; strong puller on leash; solicited petting, playful with handler; attempted to fence fight on return. 3/16/2020 OBSERVATION energetic during kennel pull; pulled some on leash; chased bird in yard, explored, friendly with handlers; at fence, stiffened, lunged, attempted to bite friendly male dog through fence; on leash, pulled toward other dog, started to bare teeth, ended interaction; fence fought on return; will attempt to bring out again. 3/25/2020 INTAKE ASSESSMENT Friendly; allowed all handling 3/28/2020 EVALUATION energetic in kennel; pulled on leash; greeted friendly female and male dog at fence; when female dog attempted to solicit play at fence, this dog stiffened, lunged at fence; on leash; coexisted with with polite male dog, hyper-salivated, tense, approached to inspect, remained tense but responded to handler.
