About Cody

Cody is a very handsome, mild-mannered and gentle Shepherd mix in need of a loving home! This fella is about 2 years old and weighs in at 65 pounds. He was rescued from a very rural animal control facility in KY. He had been surrendered by his owner for chasing cars. He did not have a fenced-in yard with his previous family so they could not keep him away from the road and they were afraid he would get hit :( Cody was well loved and cared for with his previous family and it shows. He can be a little timid when meeting new people, but he warms up very quickly. He is a very gentle and kind-hearted dog that will fit in well with most households. He is very affectionate and loves giving kisses! He is quiet and well behaved in the home and is also crate trained and does well with his housebreaking when kept on a regular schedule. He also does very well with other dogs! Cody will make one lucky household, very happy. Come meet him today. Due to COVID-19, many of our veterinarians have restricted access to non-emergency services. As a result, we have not been able to have some of our dogs spayed/neutered prior to adoption, including Cody. With many other shelters and rescues closing down, we want, and need, to continue to save lives. For a limited time, intact dogs may be available to adopt on a foster-to-adopt basis, dependent on the adopter's location and ability to travel to our partner clinics when they are fully operational. For this reason, we are only considering local adoptions for Cody (Chicagoland area/neighboring states) with the understanding he will need to be returned to Pal's Place for his neuter when our partner clinics resume full operation. Cody's adoption fee is $300. This fee covers the cost of his neuter, vaccines, microchip and initial de-worming. Cody is currently in a foster home in Chicago and can be seen by appointment once an application has been received and approved.
