About Aria

Adoption Fee: $150
English Springer Spaniel mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Hey world, I want to take the time to highlight another adoptable dog that has walked their way into my heart. She has no real advantage when it comes to catching your attention, because she's 'just a dog'. And when I say just a dog, I don't mean it in a second class citizen, beneath the right to being adored and appreciated sort of way. I just mean Aria doesn't have a traumatic story. She isn't guilty of any behavioral issues that stem from a rough life. She's not misunderstood because of her breed. She's just a dog. Never bitten anyone. Never hurt anyone. Never suffered any neglect or abuse on a level that leaves a mark. Just a dog who came to us seeming to not have experienced much of the outside world or a walk or a new adventure in quite some time. When I first took Aria out on a walk, I felt like I leashed up a freight train. Now as I'm typing this months into the future, she's worlds away from that and walks much more politely, but that does not mean that she isn't dying to go. Go anywhere and everywhere. She just wants to go. When I first introduced her to new dog friends at the facility we experienced some more of that freight train spirit. We've worked on refining her social skills, but in all honesty there's only so much you can do to rope in a spirit like that. She plays hard still. I think it's hard for her to not do everything that way when she's been cooped up for so long. Aria doesn't have any real 'problems' that I can identify. The only 'problem' are the environments the world has tried to plug her into. Shelters and boarding facilities are no place for a being that wants to move, explore, run, sniff, be free. When I think of Aria I really think of this wild crazy free dog spirit. If she had an Instagram account she'd be #wanderlust-ing it up. The nomadic life would suit her. She'd travel, and hike, and sleep under the stars if she could. The only thing stopping her is the fact that in this society stories sell. Aria doesn't really have one, she's a little mysterious like that. No one totally knows where she came from, but we'd love to help her get wherever it is her freight train spirit is calling her to go. She just needs someone looking for just a dog.
