About Toby

We would like to introduce everyone to Toby. This sweet dog is a special needs case. Please be sure to read this post thoroughly before deciding whether you are interested in him. Toby is a 4-year-old Westie Mix who is as sweet as can be, but is caring some emotional baggage. He suffers from social anxiety and fear, which can cause fear aggression. Don't misunderstand, he is not an aggressive dog, but he is very fearful of strangers and strange circumstances. He loves his person(s) and once he gets to know his person, he is sweet as can be. Once he gets to know you, he's a big baby and will let you do anything to him (bathing, brushing, etc). However, he doesn't like the groomer, the vet or strangers in the house. We believe he may benefit from with some private in home training. It would be too stressful for him to be in group session with a lot of strange people around, at least in the beginning. Besides love and patience, there are 2 things needed to adopt Toby. He loves being with other dogs and begs to play with them, so we are looking for a home with at least one other younger playful dog. He is high energy and a fenced yard is also necessary so he can run off his excess energy. He also loves daily walks. He walks well on a leash, but he's easily distracted by his nose so keeping him on a leash outside of the yard is necessary. Toby is a big baby who just wants to be with his human all the time. With some training he will be a wonderful dog for the right person.
