About Olive

Hi I am Olive a 1.5 year old Cattle Dog mix who came to AZSDR from County very fearful, pregnant and underweight. I gave birth to my 7 puppies on Thanksgiving day and have fully recovered to a perfect weight of 41 pounds fully grown. I am still learning to trust humans but with a gentle approach, respect for my boundaries and a willingness to go at my pace I am eager to open my heart to you, love all over you and follow you everywhere. I get anxiety and scared if you make fast movements or random noises and I might hide or just run to you to protect me. My fear causes me to be people selective and younger children scare me. I love my human foster brother who is 13 years old and his friends so far. My foster mom recommends no young children in my furever home only because of anxiety triggers but I have never been mean or aggressive to anyone. I am house broken, doggie door trained and also potty pad trained in case I cannot get out in time. I love going for car ride, walks, runs and on hikes. I am very good on my leash and I do not pull. Due to still being fearful at times I can not be off my leash if not in a gated area and I will require a home with a secure back yard. My foster mom fears is something spooks me and I am not on my leash I may run away and not come to strangers who try to help me. I love being outside and running laps around the yard with my other canine foster friends of all sizes! Sometimes there are many at one time. It's important to me and really helps my confidence that I have a brother or sister in our home. Sometime I do get too excited and can be a little rough so my foster mom thinks they should be close to my size if not bigger, but I love my little friends too, even the feline ones although I don't really understand them. Of course I have learned my basic commands but I still need practice and I am driven by treats. My foster mom gave me a kennel so I could have my own special space if needed and has left me in it ONLY for short periods of time. While I would really love my new family to be home with me all day, I will do great having a canine companion with bones and toys to play with all day. I really hope you will consider me and set up a meet and greet but I will only go to a furever home who understands my fearful condition and that I will need long term patience and commitment. An application, meet and greet as well as a home check will be required prior to adoption. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and vet checked. Her adoption fee of $120 includes a free vet visit and 30 days of complementary pet insurance.
