About Big Boy

Adoption Fee: 150
Great Pyrenees / Border Collie
Age: Senior
Sex: Male

My name is Big Boy. I am a neutered fellow, supposed to be 10 years old. Since I was an 'owner surrender,' it seems that is really my age, and I do look to be on the senior side. HOWEVER, my teeth are clean and healthy, and my activity level is that of a teen! According to my former humans I have spent my life as an indoor-outdoor pup. Mostly indoor. I was in the Porterville City Shelter for 6 weeks. During that time I became depressed. I wouldn't eat so lost weight. I slept on blankets, but it was not soft and the weather was cold so I looked like my hips gave me trouble. BUT, since I have been in foster, with a soft warm bed, I have no trouble walking.I'm enjoying good food, so no more weight loss, either. The Vet says I am just about perfect, about 100 lbs.. I am house trained, but after so long in a concrete kennel I have had some accidents. I let humans know, but if they are not paying attention I can only wait so long! I LOVE TO run and toss toys in the air. Playing 'chase' with toys and foster mom or siblings is also high on my list of favorites. I try to play tug with my foster brother, but I am more determined than he, so I always win and he gives up. I am very good at playing fetch, but when I bring it back I am having to learn how to gracefully give it back so I can fetch again. I DO have a slight flaw, I like to chew stuff. Stuff like soft toys and the occasional mom shoe (oops!) It seems I understand that it is wrong, but, it happens! I am a very VERY loving guy!! I love to snuggle, I love to put my head in a lap and get my floppy ears scratched. I have not gotten up on a human bed at my foster home, but I REALLY just HAVE to be in the same room with my human or I yelp and try to bark. My foster Dad says it is the saddest sound he's heard in a long time! I get up several times a night to check that my humans are still there and OK! I just have to be by my people at all times, so it would be good to find a home where people are home all the time. I get along with all dogs, big and small. In fact I just ignore them! If a dog wants to growl at me, I do growl back. NO NO NO CATS!!!! I just want to chase cats. I met some horses, but I was so I interested in the smells that I just looked at them and then ignored them. No one knows how I act around livestock, as my original humans lived in town and my foster parents live in the mountains!I No one knows how I behave around young children, either, as there are none around right now. Please consider meeting me and welcoming me into your family. I guarantee you will not be disappointed with my devotion. I am being fostered in Porterville.
