About Henry

Adoption Fee: $300
Golden Retriever / Lab
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Male

Poor little fella Henry was picked up as a stray in a rural area in West Virginia along with his siblings. We are not sure if they were abandoned there or is their Mom had her puppies there and left them once they were old enough. But the whole litter of puppies was pretty much feral. They have not been around people before they were rescued. That is actually a good thing because Henry doesn't have a 'bad' experience with people. He has only known people around him to be caring and loving towards him. Henry is a 'red' Golden Retriever and Yellow Labrador Retriever mix. He currently weighs 27 pounds and is about 4 months old. He is going to be a big pupper- we are estimating 70 pounds once fully grown. Henry is not neutered yet and we will require an additional $100 neuter deposit along with a signed neuter agreement. Since Henry will be a big dog we recommend that he should not be neutered before 6 months old or even older to avoid any health issues. Little Baby Boy Henry is very shy of people. It takes him a little while to come around new people and a new home. Henry has been with his foster Mom for 1 1/2 weeks and he has come out of his shell quickly mirroring off the other dogs in the home. Henry used to hide in the corner of the room or try to make himself invisible hoping the people would just go away. In the 1 1/2 weeks in his foster home, he has become such a confident dog. He follows the other dogs to go potty outside and comes back in. He plays with the other dogs. He enjoys being petted and he loves, loves, loves belly rubs. He is getting used to being held and cuddled. I would say he is a snuggle bug in the making. Henry is a quick learner. He is almost fully house-trained. He likes going potty outside but if for whatever reason he can't make it he will use the pee pads. Henry sleeps inside his kennel all night without having any accidents. Henry loves playing in the fenced in backyard, roaming and exploring. Henry has never had toys before and is a little bit of a doggie toy hoarder. He will empty the basket of toys and carry them to his bed. He plays with them and enjoys chewing on the chew toys. However, Henry does not exhibit any food or resource guarding aggression. Any of the other dogs or humans can take away anything he may have without reacting. Henry still needs some help learning how to walk on a leash and of course, learning commands. We think Henry would do great in a puppy obedience training once he is acclimated in his new home and bonds with his people. Henry has been nothing but a love bug at his foster home once he came out of his shell and trusted his foster Mom.
