About Blitz

If you're searching for the most devoted and loving best friend ever....Blitz is the puppy you want to have around! Blitz, at just 5 months old and 22 lbs (expected to be full-grown at approximately 35 lbs), is just naturally a lover....when he looks at you with those dark, expressive eyes and sweet smile, your heart just can't help but melt. Blitz is a beautiful Blue Heeler/Basset mix (cutest mix ever..brings a smile to our face) with all the traits that make these super- smart and personality-plus dogs very popular breed mixes for families and individuals searching for loving and loyal best friends. Blitz has a stunning coat that is cottony-soft and shining with good health. His markings are gorgeous and are consistent with his Blue Heeler lineage while his legs are short like a Basset and so silly looking... but Blitz hikes like a champion. Blitz will require a commitment to periodic baths/brushing and excellent nutrition (a 5 star dog food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great choices for hair care and longevity) to keep his coat soft as can be with good health. Blitz enjoys his time with his foster mom so much that he joins her just about everywhere she goes...it's so important to Blitz to be a true best friend! She says that this gorgeous guy is over the top sweet, just a bit submissive and loves his people more than anything! He would definitely win an award for being a wonderful as can be best friend. Blitz stays close to his person...snuggling close on the bed all night is one of sweet Blitz's favorite activities. He's a sensitive and very loving guy who derives so much joy from his time spent with his people and his canine best friends. Blitz is a young, healthy dog who will love a kind and respectful family with all his heart. He would also enjoy another gentle dog to play with.. and then to lie in the sunshine together enjoying a beautiful day. Blitz is an active puppy (although calms down quickly) who will have so much fun exploring and taking long hikes along the Colorado trails. He's always open to new activities with a never-ending positive attitude...just say the word and up Blitz will jump for a car ride, a fun hike or just a sociable stroll around the neighborhood. Blitz is an extremely affectionate and loving puppy! We would love to see him in a home with a family (older kids preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and kind dog. We'd hate to see Blitz left alone all day while his family works full-time. We think he's too sensitive for that. He's such an amazing puppy and just the right size and temperament to accompany his people just about anywhere. Farfel's Rescue would like to see Blitz in a home where he'll get consistent mental stimulation, exercise and tons of loving hugs. A positive reinforcement/force free group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Farfel's feels so strongly about a training opportunity for all dogs that we're unwilling to adopt to a family who's unwilling to give Bliza this opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force free trainers in your area. We've requested that Blitz be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of Texas. If it doesn't...Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Blitz's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used.
