About Big Fella

Animal ID: 89579 Name: Big Fella Age: 2 Years 11 Months Due to a severe in-shelter bite incident (3/19/20) Fella is back on a DOH hold. Big Fella 89579- Big Fella came to us as a stray after a good Samaritan was asked to watch him temporarily, but unfortunately the original owners were not able to retrieve him, and the people who were watching him were concerned about his behaviors; particularly that he seemed very fearful and would often growl. At the care center, Big Fella seems to be timid with people, and takes some time to warm up as he would prefer not to interact too much. However, Big Fella really likes to play, and tennis balls are his favorite toy. We have found that after a play session, he is more likely to open up to the person and will allow for more handling. Unfortunately, Big Fella also has a bite history which occurred at the care center where Big Fella bit a member of the public who was walking with a bicycle. It is not entirely certain what provoked this bite, but it was likely based in a fear response. Big Fella would be best suited for placement with a new hope partner that can provide the necessary behavior modification and should seek an adopter that can take a slow approach with him and gradually acclimating him to new environments and unfamiliar people.
