About Tanner

Cairn / Havanese
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Tanner is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag and a kiss. What isn't clear in this shelter photo is how truly beautiful this dog is with his golden coat, the engaging smile on his cuter than cute face and his perpetually wagging tail that shows the goodness of this beautiful dog. At 18 months old Tanner is such a great age... old enough to be past puppyish behaviors and young enough to have many, many healthy and active years ahead. At 27 lbs, Tanner is at that perfect weight for hiking the trails and paths of Colorado with his people and loving the experience. And then at day's end, Tanner would love nothing more than to fit just right on the couch with his family or snuggling close by in bed all night long. Tanner would be so excited to accompany his family just about everywhere a very sweet, smaller dog is welcome. Time outside playing or car rides to dog-friendly spots would speak to this little guy's love of the outdoors. He also loves cuddling after his puppyish energy has been met with games of ball, walks, hikes or virtually any dog-friendly adventures. Tanner is every bit the young guy...fun and active. But at the same time he can be initially shy, warming up with a bit of time, kind words and yummy treats. Once Tanner is used to his environment, he is a happy, silly and playful guy..so much fun to spend time with. It's natural for this pup to express himself with a wagging tail and excited kisses of love. At this point in Tanner's development, he loves virtually everyone..be it human or canine. HIs best friends at his foster home are his foster mom (she's head over heels for him already!), her 12 year old dog-crazy daughter and their like-sized Poodle mix. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Tanner to a family who expresses their devotion for him in many different ways. One of the gifts we feel that Tanner should receive is positive reinforcement group training classes. Through this once weekly, 6 - 8 week training protocol, Tanner will learn behavioral skills as well as understanding that his people are his leaders. This is incredibly valuable for a young dog and results in a loyal bonding and excellent behavior out in the world. Training has so much value that we're unwilling to adopt Tanner to a family that doesn't choose this opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force free trainers in your area. Tanner's new family needs to have the motivation, energy and open heart for a young rescue dog. He will require some behavioral guidance and tons of love/nurturing to give him a positive attitude about the world. In return Tanner will be a loyal and loving best friend and the greatest lap dog ever. When this adorable guy falls in love, he falls hard. He gives 100% of himself to his relationships with both his treasured people and his canine companions. We envision Tanner being placed with dog-loving retirees..he would thrive on the attention and time retirees often put into their pets. A younger family that works from home, part-time or from a pet-friendly workplace would also be an excellent choice. Tanner is too sensitive a guy to be left alone for the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home. Tanner will be up to date on his vetting, fully vaccinated and neutered. This health care is to make certain that every dog we adopt out is healthy and fulfills our goals of zero population growth. Tanner will be arriving on transport in Denver on Wednesday 4/1/20. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If you're interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out ou adoption application completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Tanner, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving guy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
