About Tally

Tally is a beautiful 10 year old, 6 pound Chihuahua. She was owner surrendered when her mom was unable to take care of her any longer. When she first came to us she was very sad as she had been with her mom since she was 6 weeks old. Even though she is still a little sad, within a day she was coming up to her foster mom to be petted. She seems much younger than her 10 years, both in looks and behavior. Tally loves to go outside and explore, and a fenced yard is preferred to keep her safe. She likes to be close to her human whenever possible, whether it's sitting on the sofa or snuggling in the bed. During the day Tally likes to lie on her dog bed in the same room as her foster mom. Tally seems to prefer women; she tends to shy away from her foster dad, but her prior owner was a woman so that's just what she is used to. Tally gets along with other small dogs, but does not pay much attention to them yet. We know she would do great as an only dog since this is what she has always known. Her previous owner stated that she was a barker and would snip at ankles, however, her foster mom has not seen any indication of either behavior. This may be due to being in a new home, and the adopter needs to know the possibility of that behavior, although the fact that she's not doing it now indicates it's something easily handled. So far she has been very quiet and has not been snippy at all.Tally does not like car rides and will crouch on the floor when car travel is necessary. She has not been tested with cats or kids. Due to her small size a home with young children or large pets is not recommended. Tally seems to be housebroken as long as she is taken out on a regular schedule. She came to the rescue with several toys, but has not played with them yet, but she does like having them close to her in her dog bed. Tally is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. She is scheduled for a dental which is covered by the rescue as long as it is done at our vet.
