About Jude

Great Pyrenees / Anatolian Shepherd
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

There are so many wonderful things about Jude I don't really know where to begin. Having him in my home the past ten days has been so special. He is such a good dog and so sweet-natured it's hard to believe he is looking for a home. From the moment he stepped into the house he has been perfectly well-mannered. Not a single accident and I was able to leave him home alone inside uncrated from day one. He is curious about his environment but not destructive in any way. He went straight to the bed that was out for him and took a nap. He is incredibly easy-going and relaxed. He is a big napper but when he's not sleeping, he loves taking walks and being brushed. He often comes over and puts his head in my lap to receive affection. He is a leaner! He just wants to be near you and will put his head in your knees or under your arm and lean against you while you pet him; he loves to snuggle. His coat is so beautiful but he is healing from skin allergies so he often licks or chews on his hot spots. His coat is long and fluffy and requires daily brushing. He doesn't play with toys but loves his chew bone. He likes to take it outside to gnaw on it . He knows how to sit and we've been working on stay and come. He's very treat-motivated so we do short training sessions for treats. Jude is a dream to walk! No leash pulling at all. But outside on the leash he turns into a bloodhound! He has a nose that tracks everything and so a walk is like watching a dog detective in action; he sniffs out everything! He tires quickly so walks are usually only 10-15 minutes a day, but they are one of his favorite parts of the day so they are necessary. On our walks we encounter other dogs, people, and even startled a herd of deer and he did not react. When company comes over he greets guests easily and politely. I've never heard him bark. I don't know what else I can say except that Jude is a very special boy who deserves a very special home. He is a perfect dog for someone that wants a calm, low-key, loving companion. He would not be good for someone looking for a playful or high-energy dog. Jude is sweet and loving and will enrich your life; he is easy to love and a joy to come home to. I know the right person will treasure him as much as I do.
