About Audrey

Audrey THIS IS A SPECIAL NEEDS ADOPTION FOR A VERY SPECIAL HUMAN. This is Audrey. She is four years old, about 33 lbs. She is spayed and up to date on all vaccines. Poor Audrey was hit by a car, shattering her spine, and rendering her blind. After the accident, she could not move, and laid on a side of the highway for over a week(!) in the dirt - we still do not know how she survived. Her suffering and fear (she lost her vision abruptly) must have been horrible. Apparently, this little doggie had a will to live! When volunteers found Audrey, they were shocked to see that she had been eating dirt and dry grass to survive ... Audrey was eventually brought to Moscow, where she had a complete workup and received treatment. She has regained some vision (she can orient herself well, and she can see object outlines). She is very calm, gentle, and sweet. Audrey gets along with everyone, and is a very quiet, unassuming girl. She usually just hangs out hoping for a scrap of attention and a couple of pets. That is what she lives for. She would make the most loving, grateful, and faithful companion. The most difficult piece is that Audrey needs help going to the bathroom. There is a special procedure needed twice a day to help her relieve herself (she cannot do this herself because of her injury). Even though this procedure is pretty straightforward and quick, it is also the reason why she has no chances of getting adopted. Audrey is also a great candidate for a doggie wheelchair, which would give her a way to run again. This is also not possible without a very special human who would put their time and energy to teach her how to use one. We realize that Audrey is probably not adoptable.
