About Nala

We've been quietly trying to find a home for our sweet Nala, Australian Cattle Dog, for a while-but I'm afraid our situation is a little more urgent. This is a sweet, loyal, and incredibly smart dog. She is very submissive and obedient to her owners, has a lot of energy, and is longing for a job and a family that can stimulate her. She was rescued by my husband as a puppy from a farmer that was going to put her down and she has been a loving member of our family. Her breed leads her to want to work and has been herding our other rescue dogs and overwhelming to the other dogs because... well honestly she's bored. And while we've tried to do more focused training, keeping her separate and intervening in her bullying tactics, our other dogs are starting to fight her and it's escalated tensions in our household. Again, this wouldn't be too hard to deal with except We've got a small baby that she is around. We are at a place where we can't risk the health of our child or our other animals because we are unable to give her the 'job' and outlet she needs. Nala is 4 years old, in great health, spayed, house and crate trained, knows basic commands and picks up on things really quickly. She will do best in a home where she is the solo dog or not vying for the dominant female position. Please let me know if you or someone you know would want this baby. This breaks my heart but i know she will be happier in a home that gives her the job and stimulation she needs. She is the best dog, and I hate to get rid of her, but this environment is not conducive for her. But she will make a great pet and play hard. She is good with older kids who can talk to her and direct her.
