About Kona

Adoption Fee: $0
Pit Bull mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Poor Kona has been scheduled for euthanasia at OC Animal Care, and this is sadly a difficult situation to feel comfortable about being the definition of a 'Long Stay Dog' that has endured her time at the shelter quite well... aside from the recent turn of events at OCAC. Kona first arrived at the shelter back in November of 2018, she was adopted shortly after becoming available but then returned several months later. She had another adoption later in 2019 but wasn't the right fit. The primary concerns for being placed AT-RISK and scheduled for euthanasia all seem to fall under negative notes from medical staff, so either she doesn't like shelter veterinarians or has decent judge of character :| As our group encompasses actual volunteers of these facilities, it is worth stating that there have been no negative reports from volunteers or daily kennel attendants regarding Kona's 'behavior' at the shelter. She is a young high energy girl, and is also very smart and is extremely receptive of people due to all the work kennel staff and volunteers have done during her time at the shelter. It is also worth point out that kennel supervisors did not see notable negative demeanor during her time at the shelter to require her to be put in the T.L.C. program, which would be usual protocol for a dog that exhibited the negative behavior described in her medical notes. Kona was originally surrendered to the shelter due to owners reporting of her getting in altercations with other dogs. However, she has had multiple playgroup tests during her extended time at the shelter and had just shown little interest in other dogs and prefers small groups.
