About Macgyver (east)

Hi, my name is MACGYVER ID#A4328958. I am a male, neutered black and white American Pit Bull Terrier. I am about 2 years old, and have been at the shelter since Oct 14, 2019. Macgyver was adopted Nov 23, 2019, and returned after a week. The adopter said Mac was not house trained, played too rough with his 2 year old child, chewed up stuff, and did not like being left alone. Actually, this is pretty normal for a dog who has had no training. These things take time - minimum of 2 weeks just for the dog to get used to being in a new environment. Mac loves people, walks good on a leash, and would make a wonderful family companion. But he does need to learn how to live in a home. Macgyver has been at the shelter way too long and is beginning to deteriorate in his kennel. Here are a few notes about Macgyver from shelter volunteers: 11/26/2019 WALK - friendly and excited in kennel; easy pull/return; loose leash walker; took treats, allowed petting, playful; good on leash, energetic/playful/affectionate; gentle with treats, seems to know 'sit'. 1/1/2020 WALK - MacGyver was calm in kennel. He was an easy pull and return. He walked easily on leash. he gently took treats, solicited petting, food motivated. He will sit nicely and wait for a treat. 3/8/2020 OBSERVATION Difficult kennel pull, very jumpy/barking; jumped up and bit handlers arm, did not break skin; continued to attempt to mouth at handlers hands/arms as she waited for him to settle. 3/11/2020 OBSERVATION dog started jump up high in kennel when handler unlocked gate; took treats; easy kennel pull; dog pulled some on leash in wing; went for a walk, sniffed/explored; allowed petting; did not take treats outside of kennel; demonstrated 'sit'; returned to kennel- handler dropped several treats and removed leash without issue. Macgyver is about to go on the euthanasia list if we don't find a home for him in the next couple of days. Please consider giving this sweet boy a chance at life.
