I have to do something very difficult. Probably one of the most difficult things i have ever had to do. I have to find Diego a new home. Basically he needs a more routine home in a suburban setting with a yard. Diego is stressed by city life which is linked to territory and not liking strangers. I talked to a respected behavioralist about the issues I was seeing including his physical appearance that I knew indicated stress. With a few questions he revealed more signs of a stressful life. He said the most loving thing I can do is fine him a home with someone who has a very routine/stable life. A small yard... who doesn't travel. Who understands Chichi's need to have a territory and family to protect. SO he is 110% Chichi... he is very healthy and a very good dog- he minds. He will bite someone protecting his family or if he is threatened. He has leash, treat, and fence aggression. He is 9 years old. Vet always remarks he has a strong heart and is very healthy. He grumbles a lot and barks when its all out alert. His dog sitters/day care always remark that he is 'so good' because he follows commands. He is crate trained and naps in his crate, but gets upset when he is crated when everyone is at home. Has been around a few kids and has done well with kids over 6. He tends to mark when he is around other males dogs but LOVES female dogs particularly Chichi's and German Shepherds. He responds well to a good smack down and he has had those. He has been socialized from 4 months on with visits to dog parks, dog walked in a pack, and exposure to friends' animals. SO... if you are a Chichi person with a routine life who is looking for a healthy adult Chichi companion please let me know. It will be a process and not just a handover. I want to find the right home for him.
