About Archie

Hello, My brother recently passed away and he adopted a Blue Heeler puppy about a year ago. He is a very sweet boy and he loves to be near the people he knows well. Unfortunately the only family member I have here now is my mother who has been diagnosed with Alzheimers and lives in long term care facility so she is unable to care for Archie. I live in Texas in a tiny apartment and it would absolutely not be fair to him to go from living on a ranch with acres of playground to being alone in my apartment for 8 hours a day. We've had cattle dogs all of our lives so I know firsthand what happens when they're under stimulated and/or bored. I am struggling to find a home for him because he is very protective of the people he knows (myself, my mother and my niece) and he growls at strangers and will even attempt to bite them if they approach me. He is a great watchdog, knows basic commands and is fiercely loyal. But I do not know anyone I can trust to take him. I'm very worried one mistake on his part could mean he ends up in a shelter or worse. I just want to find him a home with someone who knows the breed and understands his needs. I just want the best for him and I am heartbroken and ashamed that I cannot keep such an important piece of my brother's life. It's all just been so sudden and unexpected and I am struggling to find him a forever home.
