Talk about a fun dog! Leo is a 3 year old beagle who is all about having fun. He loves playing tug of war, playing fetch with a ball, and finding the squeakers in toys. He loves carrots, apples, and ice. His favorite place to sleep in under the covers next to his foster mom. Leo is house trained and crate trained. Leo has completed Basic Level I training and is ready for Basic Level II training. He can sit, wait, down, stay, respect the hand, and focus. Leo is super cute when his little paws get so excited when he wants a treat. They become happy feet and are too cute for words - You will have to see them in action. He loves other dogs, riding in the car, and going for long walks or hikes. Leo does have resource guarding - Resource guarding refers to a dog displaying behavior (growling, snapping, etc.) intended to convince other dogs or humans to stay away from a particular treasure or 'resource.' The resource can be anything he thinks holds value. For example: empty food bag, marshmallow bag, bag of chips, sandwich, etc. In January 2019, Leo went to training at PawsCeinda Pet Resort to work on his resource guarding and learning to be the best dog he can be. His foster mom and his trainer worked with him on correcting the resource guarding. Leo does wear an e- collar as part of his training. An e-collar will need to be purchased if Leo is to be adopted. Leo has come a long way since working with his trainer and foster mom. They continue to work on building Leo's trust and reinforcing positive behavior. Leo is best fitted for a home with older children. A house or townhouse is required. The folks at MomsVA will want to set up a meet and greet and Leo's trainer will be glad to work with you if you decide to adopt him.
