About Cooper

Boxer
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Cooper 9 Years Old 65 lbs Intact Male Dog friendly House & Crate trained Special needs -- has wheelchair Docked tail Fostered in West Linn, OR Cooper can best be described as happiness on wheels! He has some type of neurological disorder, be it degenerative disc disease or possibly Degenerative Myelopathy -- not certain as DM can only be diagnosed via an autopsy. He shows no signs of pain and doesn't let his mobility issues diminish his zest for life. This handsome, tall, athletic boy is full of joy, and has a lot of life left to live! Though wobbly, he can still walk on his own. He gets around much better in his wheelchair, but he doesn't need it 100% of the time. Cooper has a whole bag of tools, including his wheelchair, Help 'em Up harness, booties, and even his own roller skates! His favorite activities are playing fetch, going for car rides and for walks and jogs out and about in his wheelchair. He's pretty amazing! He is house and crate trained. He can still go potty on his own accord, but he does need assistance as he will fall backwards if not supported with his harness. Cooper has also become a social media star. He's been featured in quite a few videos and is bringing awareness to others about what is possible despite his physical limitations. He will need extra attention and care to manage his physical condition, such as extra support helping him get around, assisting with stairs and potty, putting down rugs in the house to help him with traction. But overall he's a very easy boy with a wonderful temperament. He Loves all people! He can pretty much always be found with a smile on his face. Cooper is not neutered as he came into rescue this way, and the vet thinks best not to perform surgery on him at this age. So he will need a responsible family and he doesn't care for other intact males, but he currently lives in total peace with a neutered male and spayed female in his foster home. Cooper is the epitome of the saying...Sometimes your greatest challenge can become your greatest gift. He is an example of what dogs are capable of despite physical limitations. If you are a 'glass half full' kind of person with a big heart and the know-how to care for a dog with his condition, Cooper would love to meet you! http://Bit.ly/WHBRadopt
