About Rocky

Rocky fits his name perfectly! He is a very BIG BICHON who was bred from Champions! He is a bit overweight and needs to be kept on a strict dog food diet and no treats! He weights 28 lbs and could stand to loose about 7 or 8 of those.... 20 lbs would be a good goal weight for him. The good news is he LOVES to go for walks! So the weight should come off in the next few months with a proper diet and walking every day. Poor baby, was found sitting next to his previous owner who died suddenly while loading up the car. Rocky sat by his body for 2 hours till the police found them in the driveway with the car door still open. Rocky is 10 years old, up to date on vaccines, neutered, microchipped and healthy other than needing to loose some weight. He is very good around other dogs and indifferent to cats. He was a bit spoiled in his previous home and lived with 2 seniors so we prefer a home without children. Rocky would be wonderful for a 'young retiree' or someone that either works from home or only works part time. Someone that loves to take walks and has no or few steps in their home as Rocky limps once in a while, due to his weight (this should resolve as soon as the weight starts coming off). Adopter should be an experienced, dog savvy, strong pack leader not afraid to show Rocky who is the boss and be able to lift him in and out of the car when he needs to go to groomer or vet. This is not a dog for a frail person as Rocky is literally twice the weight of the average Bichon. (At least for now) He loves to be around his humans and is a great companion dog attaching quickly to whomever is giving him love. Patience will be needed the first few weeks or month or so till he adjusts to you and his new home, especially after the trauma of loosing his daddy.
