About JJ

Meet JJ! JJ came to us from a hoarding situation with a bunch of other dogs. He is a very sweet 4 year old, 16 pound Dachshund mix. JJ is the most loving boy! His favorite thing to do is cuddle on the couch with his person. He also prefers to sleep under the covers, snuggled up on the big bed. He is great with other dogs, house-trained, and knows how to use a doggy door. We have also not tested him around children although his foster mom is sure he would be fine. He is a very laid back boy and loves affection. He is leash trained and enjoys going on daily walks. He also enjoys running free around the back yard. He is completely housebroken and also does not mind being in a crate if needed, but since he is housebroken and so good in the house we don't see why it would be necessary! He likes to play with toys every now and then, although he is not high energy. JJ is up to date on shots, neutered, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. Before he came to us JJ lived outside with no vet care and he is heartworm positive. He has been started on treatment which involves 30 days of Doxycycline, given twice a day, followed by 12 months of Ivermectin. He will be retested at that time and, if still positive, we will provide another 6 months of Ivermectin and retest at the end of the 6 months.The rescue supplies the medicine and pays for the tests until he is heartworm negative.
