About Spanky in Baton Rouge

Jack Russell
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

**Courtesy Post** Hello! My name is Spanky. I was dumped on the street in a neighborhood with 4 other pups at the end of December 2019 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My foster mom rescued me and 2 of the other pups. She named all of us after the 'Our Gang' characters because we are all 'little rascals'! After we were rescued we all went to foster homes through Friends of the Animals in Baton Rouge. We have all been given a warm bed and lots of hugs and kisses from some very nice folks. Currently I live with my foster family. They have three other dogs. One of the other dogs in the home was also rescued, possibly after being dumped by the same person that dumped us, in August of 2018. My foster family and FOTABR is trying to help me find a furever home with a family that will LOVE me and take care of me. They tell me I am a tri-color flat coat Jack Russell Terrier between 2-3 years old. I am mostly white with patches of blue merle (black/gray) and a splash of brown on my cheeks and eyebrows. I have beautiful aquamarine marbling in my big brown eyes. I am very high energy and need lots of room to run and play. I am housebroken, crate trained and walk well on a leash while wearing a harness. I am happiest running around the secure fenced yard with my foster brother or wrestling on the sofa. Because of this I will need at least one other dog in my forever home. When playing with toys I love to shake them like a rag doll. I may be okay with older kids, over 12, but I get scared of sudden movement and activity. My new family would need to be VERY patient with me. I tend to like ladies better than men, but I am warming up to my foster dad - especially when he gives us cheese. My doggie friends that I grew up with were not very well socialized before being dumped. We are all 'skittish' which means we get scared easily. I would love to have a new family that has someone that is home at least part of the day because I get stressed and agitated when left alone for a long time. I only weigh 12 lbs so I can fit on your lap once I get to know you. Snuggling on the sofa at night with my foster mom and the other pups is one of my favorite things to do. Oh, BTW...I am heartworm negative, have been neutered, microchipped and I am UTD on all vaccinations. My foster mom told me she is going to be very picky when selecting the perfect family for me. In addition to an active family with a secure fenced yard and another pup to play with, my new family will also need experience with the breed (or another similar active breed) and excellent vet references. I must be adopted by someone in the Baton Rouge area. I know that seems like a lot, but she says I am worth it and I deserve the best! My foster family says that they may not know much about my past, but they want me to have a wonderful future with a loving family. Contact: If you have any questions please email [email protected] for more information or an application. Friends of the Animals in Baton Rouge are responsible for handling the adoption. The adoption fee is $125 + 10.99 to register the microchip, with an approved application. Website: https://friendsoftheanimalsbr.org/ Please note, if you are approved to adopt this pup you MUST come pick him up yourself. We will NOT put Spanky on transport.
