Please come save Shea she deserves a loving home !! TIED UP AND LEFT AT THE DOG RUN IN A PARK IN QUEENS!! CAN YOU IMAGINE HOW HER HEART BROKEN SHE WAS AS SHE WATCHED THE PEOPLE SHE LOVED WALK AWAY? SHEA IS A BEAUTY! Ever her heartbreaking intake photo shows how beautiful Shea is! Is she part lab? Hasn't everyone experienced heartbreak at some time or another? So we can all relate to how Shea is feeling. It is devastating, sometimes even debilitating. And it can be hard to get up and face the changes life has brought. So it is no surprise that Shea is struggling at the shelter. Her world has changed so dramatically in just a few days and she does not yet feel safe with her new guardians. Please help this scared girl find a home that will understand her, that will help her trust again and feel safe and loved. Please help heal her broken heart! SHEA, ID# 88279, @ 5 Yrs. Old, 94 lbs., Spayed Female Brooklyn ACC, Large Mixed Breed (Mastiff Mix), Black / White Surrender Reason: Stray, found abandoned in a dog park, abandoned in dog run of forest park Shelter Assessment Rating: NEW HOPE ONLY No children (under 13) Medical Behavior Rating: INTAKE PROFILE - BASIC INFORMATION: Shea was brought in as a stray after she was found abandoned in a dog park. She is a large mixed breed approximately 5 years old. INTAKE NOTES - DATE OF INTAKE, 10-Feb-2020: Upon intake Shea growled and hard barked at counselors. Since she seemed comfortable with her finder and his friend we asked them to assist with placing her into a kennel. No handling was done. SHELTER ASSESSMENT SUMMARIES - Date of assessment: 12-Feb-2020 PLAYGROUP NOTES - DOG TO DOG SUMMARIES: Shea was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior with other dogs is unknown. 2/11: Handlers did not attempt to collar Shea out of concern for her stress levels. She is highly fearful and wary of the handlers. A gate greet was conducted with a novel male dog. She approaches slowly and sniffs the male before walking away with a tightly tucked posture, flat ears, and whale eyes. 2/12-2/13: Handlers were able to successfully collar Shea today. She remains nervous as she briefly greets a novel male, before walking away to explore the pens. She checks in with the male and sniffs his genitals before walking away. Recommendations comments: No children (under 13): Due to Shea's extreme level of fear combined with her propensity to escalate rapidly, we feel as though she would be best set up to succeed in an adult only home environment.. So so scared in this shelter , so she is reacting out of fear :( . She needs a mice home where she can feel safe and decompress and be back to her old self again . Place with a New Hope partner: In the care center, Shea has displayed a very high level of fear and she has only tolerated very minimal handling. Shea has been observed to escalate to growling and snapping at handlers when uncomfortable though overall prefers to avoid interaction. At this time, we feel as though Shea would be best set up to succeed if placed with an experienced rescue group who can reassess her behavior in a more stable home environment. Guidance from a professional trainer or behaviorist is highly advised.. please come save Shea, they will murder her on 3-7-20 if no placement is found !
