About Lenny

Adoption Fee: $300
Dachshund mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

This good looking guy is Lenny! He is a 5 year old Dachshund mix who is a bit larger than our usual rescue at 22 pounds. He was found running in traffic and brought to one of our volunteers. She posted him and found his owners, but they didn't want him and surrendered him to the rescue. He was very stressed and unhappy when he first came to her and it took a few weeks for him to settle in. Once he relaxed, his personality started to come out! He likes to lie on the couch and cuddle with his foster mom and he sleeps with her at night. He would love to go to a home where his person is home a lot so he could get plenty of snuggles. He likes being outside and will happily accompany you when you are out there doing yard work or relaxing on the patio. He likes going for walks and enjoys car rides too! Lenny loves toys and playing tug with his person. He is just starting to play with the other dogs in his foster home. He is a talker and a grumbly growler. Most of his grumbles are all talk, but he may try to fear-bite if he is unsure or afraid of something. We don't think he had a lot of positive attention in his old home. A home with a secure fenced yard is required and he needs to be supervised outside, at least at first. He did try to dig out of his foster mom's yard the first couple of days she had him, but has not done it since then. He would be good in a home with a more passive, friendly dog to buddy up with, or he would be fine as an only dog. We were told he has a history of being aggressive with other dogs, but he has not shown that behavior with any of his foster mom's dogs or at our adoption events. Lenny has not been cat tested and should not go to a home with children. He is up to date on shots, neutered, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. Lenny is heartworm positive and has started treatment. The treatment involves 30 days of Doxycycline, given twice a day, followed by 12 months of Ivermectin. He will be retested at that time and, if still positive, we will provide another 6 months of Ivermectin and retest at the end of the 6 months. The rescue supplies the medicine and pays for the tests until he is heartworm negative. Lenny is a good boy who should belong to people who want him and will love on him furever! Please submit an adoption application to meet him!
