About Smokes

Smokes is a 3-4 year old, mixed breed dog who weighs about 40 pounds and we are proud to be able to say that we saved her! Smokes was left at a rural Va shelter by her owner because she was 'jumping on cars.' She was completely terrified and shut down and couldn't be touched in the kennel. We wrangled her out, put her in a foster home and let the healing begin! Smokes is happy, confident and just plan naughty at times! She lives to chase and bark at cars and has nothing good to say about cats! She adores her foster mom would follow her to the end of the earth but she does need time to adjust to new people. Smokes ideal home would have a fenced yard or would take her for long leash walks because she does have a good bit of energy. We think that she would get along well in a home with another dog. We don't think she would be successful in a home with lots of visitors or small kids coming in an out as she has my bip or bite if overwhelmed by strangers. Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and hold adoption events at Petsmart in Waynesboro, VA (821 Town Center Drive Waynesboro, VA 22980) every Saturday. A $175.00 adoption fee ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
