About Rico

Rico is a handsome hunk of lover boy! He came to us from one of the colonies that we care for. We noticed him last summer. He was the boyfriend of a female that we've been trying to spay forever and the daddy of a few of her litters. He started coming around after we neutered more of the males around that area and rehomed the friendly ones.The caretaker noticed right before Christmas time that he was really friendly. Would rub around on their ankles and they could pick them up and snuggle him. He was a stray. He did not belong outside. We can only imagine that somebody decided they no longer wanted him. He was not fixed, but he is now! He is extremely friendly and well adjusted. Just so so attention seeking. He does OK with other animals. This is a very good thing because this guy is FIV positive. Almost all the male cats we got from this area are positive. He likely had an altercation with one of them while he was out trying to survive on the streets. You see, FIV is only spread through deep bite wounds. Luckily we got him and he is really healthy. He would do fine in an FIV negative home because he is not an aggressive cat. Our vet staff said that he is otherwise healthy and would be just fine and at home!
