About Josh ....Social, waggy, total sweetheart JOSH with his big happy smile is so ready for a new family. Found wandering the streets alone and brought to the shelter by a Good Samaritan who had nothing but glowing praise for what a good, polite, boy he was in her home (he even played nicely with her dog), it wasn't long before the mystery of his past unfolded. Of course at the shelter he was given the silliest name (Mr. Sausage), but it was soon revealed by his former owner's girlfriend that his real name was Josh, that he is perfectly housetrained, loves other dogs, and has only ONE bad habit - well, don't we all? He wants to be able to eat his dinner in peace. In every other respect he is big hearted boy, and he's anxious to 'share' his life with a new family, an experienced family, who can teach him how to 'share' other things in his life as well. Of course, this would make him even more of a rock star than he already is. If you can't foster or adopt him, please share him, crosspost him, and pledge for him far and wide. And if you CAN foster or adopt him, hurry and Message our page or email us at [email protected] for assistance. Josh is counting on us, let's not let him down! JOSH AKA MR. SAUSAGE, ID# 88601, 4 yrs old, 68.8 lbs, Unaltered Male Brooklyn ACC, Large Mixed Breed, Tan I came to the shelter as a Stray, 2/15/2020 Shelter Assessment Rating: New Hope Only No children (under 13) Medical Behavior Rating: Blue (Good!) INTAKE NOTES - DATE OF INTAKE, 2/15/2020: Upon intake, Josh aka Mr. Sausage was friendly with all intake staff. He allowed staff to pet him and wagged his tail. He allowed all handling. SURRENDER NOTES - BASIC INFORMATION: JOSH (AKA Mr. Sausage) came in today as a stray. He is a large mixed breed unaltered dog that was found loose in Crown Heights. The finders of Mr. Sausage reported that they brought him in their home with their other dog while they were waiting for BACC to open. They stated that Mr. Sausage played very nicely with their other dog. They stated his behavior around children and cats is unknown. ADDENDUM TO SURRENDER NOTES: Josh was found wandering the streets of Brooklyn and was picked up by a good Samaritan and brought to ACC. We later got a phone call from a person who claimed she was familiar with the dog as she was the owner's girlfriend. We learned that his name was Josh and she was able to provide more information about him. Josh is housetrained. We found out that Josh has a multiple minor bite incidents with his previous owner, where all resulted in just minor injuries (scratches). Each time he would let go right away. Josh has not bitten people for more than a year now, but it was because they learned to respect his feeding time and left him alone while eating. Josh was reported to have resource guarding issues with food and here we have observed this same behavior at the care center. Josh has also displayed reactivity while on leash and would bite and hold on to it. Staff uses treats to redirect him to try to get him to drop the leash. Our veterinarian team discovered that Josh has a fractured tooth and hematuria, for these reasons we are recommending rescue placement at this time.
