About Bowen

Aww . . Beautiful, goofy Bowen is back in the shelter. Bowen has been to the farmer's market, the beach, he has strolled up and down Centre Street in Fernandina Beach, he was blessed at the Blessing of the Animals. On his adventures he has encountered children, dogs, cats and seagulls. He is friendly to everyone and he attracts people to him wherever he goes. He is well-behaved and well mannered. He knows how to walk on a leash. He obeys commands like come, sit, shake. Bowen loves the water! Whoever adopts him, a plastic kiddie pool is a must have. Bowen was adopted last October with the best intentions. Unfortunately, things didn't work out. We are grateful to his adoptive family for sharing their insights. To a fault, Bowen is extremely loyal and protective. He loves his human family so much that he became jealous (protective) when the owners existing dog came near them, Bowen is four years old and sixty pounds of solid muscle. Through his playfulness, the family was concerned he could inadvertently topple their grandchildren. His owner had horses and their neighbor had pigs and cows. Bowen could not suppress his instincts to 'herd' the livestock. His previous owner had three cats. Bowen made friends with two of them, but he liked to chase the one that ran from him. Trying to catch the kitty was a favorite game. Bowen is house-trained and crate trained. Bowen is looking for a home where he can be the only dog and any children, are 12+ years old.
