About Ray

Ray is a cuddle bug and loves attention. His personality is almost cat-like; He will come up to you for affection but when he wants alone time, he will find a place to chill and relax by himself. He is food driven and loves treats. After meeting our other dog, he has done very well with him, but I personally think he would either thrive with one other dog (about the same size) and/or be an only pet in an adult only household. He doesn't do well with cats, but has no problems with chickens. During his adjustment period from the pound into my home, we did have an incident of him biting me. I was sitting and petting him and I went a little to far down his tummy (it was also about 2 days after being neutered), to where I think it spooked him. It did not draw blood, but gave both of us a little scare. It was very self-defensive like. About two minutes later, I showed him love and let him engage in me when he was ready. After that, him and I haven't had any problems. Unfortunately, Ray had a few more incidents. My dad was petting him, (we have another bigger dog that likes to be pet pretty aggressively, so that's how my dad was petting him) and it might've been too much for Ray, but he did the same kind of bite to my dad that he did to me. After that, my dad has been very incessant getting Ray out of our home. My last thing I want is to take Ray back to the humane society because my only option would be making an owner request end of life. He is a very sweet dog who's history is unknown. He would do very well with someone who has more time and experience than I do. He has one of the sweetest hearts and deserves another chance in a more suitable environment.
