About Boomer

AFEW has not given up on Boomer, this guy has been looking for that special a family of his own since late 2014!! As of September 30, 2017, it's been 1064 days of shelter/kennel living for this guy. In the time we have had Boomer we learned a lot about him. He is a smart dog that needs a job of some sort - a hiking companion, jogging buddy, or being one of the 'guys'. Boomer is respectful of his handler, he is healthy, strong, clean and playful. The fact that Boomer is part American Staffordshire Terrier makes it difficult for him and others like him. The restrictions are pretty clear: Boomer is a little too interested in cats and other dogs, so his new home should be feline and canine-free. And because he's a young guy - about five - with lots of energy we are hoping to send him home with 'a calm, experienced owner that can make his life predictable and keep him busy.' He needs a family with older children (teens) or just adults and no other 4 legged pets. In an effort to find that special someone, Boomer's good behavior at the vet, in the kennel and with his handler excels. He has the propensity for being ridiculously happy when he's outside playing and burning his energy up. Remember a good dog is a tired dog! And if this post seems a little more hostage-like than the more cheerful adoption promos - well, it's just one more effort to get one of AFEW's long-term residents his own family, at last. 'He has waited a long time and we would love to see him finally get his forever home. As anyone who works in rescue will tell you, it is never sad when our animals go home. It is only sad when week after week they patiently wait and seem invisible to adopters and come to think of their kennel as home.'
