Her whole world has recently crumbles apart when her family was evicted and she was surrendered to the shelter. This formerly relaxed and playful girl is whale eyed and scared at the shelter. She does not understand what has happened that she has ended up here. She used to play with her kids, she was fed home cooked meals. She was loved and now she is alone and afraid. COOKIE CRUMBLES, ID# 86917 About 4 yrs old Weight 51 lbs @ Brooklyn ACC, Large Mixed Breed, Chocolate / Gray Female, Owner Surrender Reason: Owner surrender due to eviction Shelter Assessment Rating: NEW HOPE ONLY Medical Behavior Rating: OWNER SURRENDER NOTES - BASIC INFORMATION: Cookie is a female, grey, large mixed breed, 4 year old dog that was surrendered due to the owner being evicted. Cookie Crumbles previously lived with 2 adults and 3 children. Cookie is fearful around strangers. She will sometimes growl. Cookie grew up with children the ages of 9, 13, and 15 years of age to which she was relaxed and playful. Cookie will growl at other dogs in the streets. She has no experience around cats. Cookie did growl at a cat in the lobby of QRC. She has no known resource guarding and no prior bite history. Cookie is housetrained and her previous owner describes her energy level as high. Other Notes: Previous owner stated that Cookie enjoys having her coat brushed but is fearful of baths and will struggle to run away. She will bark if someone unfamiliar approaches the house or her family. Has this dog ever had any medical issues? No Medical Notes: Previous owner stated that Cookie has no known medical issues. For a New Family to Know: Previous owner stated that Cookie can be described as friendly, mellow, and fearful. Her favorite activity is eating and running around the house. When at home Cookie will follow her human around and be in the same room as them. She enjoys playing with balls and playing chase. Cookie is mostly and indoor dog. She eats home cooked food twice a day. Cookie is house trained but prefers to use the bathroom in grass and dirt. When left alone in the house Cookie is well behaved. Cookie has never been crate trained. She knows the commands sit and stop in spanish. For exercise Cookie is use to going for slow walks on the leash twice a day. INTAKE NOTES - DATE OF INTAKE, 26-Jan-2020: Upon intake behavior Cookie displayed a tucked tail, tense body and hard stared at counselor. She showed no interest in treats and growled at counselor. Previous owner collared, placed in kennel and assisted with taking photo. BEHAVIOR NOTES Means of surrender (length of time in previous home): Owner surrender Previously lived with: 2 adults, 3 children (age 9, 13, 15) Behavior toward strangers: Fearful, growls Behavior toward children: Relaxed, playful with familiar children Behavior toward dogs: Growls Behavior toward cats: Unknown Resource guarding: None reported Bite history: None reported Housetrained: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Friendly, mellow, fearful with a high energy level SHELTER ASSESSMENT: Date of assessment: 29-Jan-2020 Summary: Cooke Crumble wandered the behavior room on a drag leash very tense and wide eyed, startling and moving away upon sudden movements. She was observed to hard stare handlers when they would move towards her. Out of concern for her overall stress level, a handling assessment will not be attempted at this time. PLAYGROUP NOTES - DOG TO DOG SUMMARIES: According to Cookie Crumbles's previous owner, she will growl at other dogs during walks. .1/28: Handlers were able to successfully collar Cookie Crumbles today. She remains highly fearful and wary of handlers. A gate greet is conducted out of concern for her stress levels. She approaches the gate with slow stiff movements and greets a novel male dog. Her posture stiffens further and becomes forward-facing. Handlers were not comfortable attempting to muzzle Cookie Crumbles so on off-leash interaction was not conducted. 1/30: Cookie Crumbles completely avoided a novel male dog and handlers as she attempted to seek an exit.
