About Sherman

Poodle mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

4/23/20 ADOPTION PENDING 2 year old male Poodle mix, about 12 pounds. Sherman is a project. We have been working with Sherman for over a year and he has come a long way. But he is still working on some reactivity and fear issues. While he is a sweet guy at his foster home, greeting house guests with loves and kisses, he turns into cujo on a leash. It is all fear based behavior but he is more than willing to let you know not to come near him if he's attached to mom. Potential adopters must be ready to carry on with walking him in a muzzle in the outside world until they have developed him further in training. This behavior also carries over to grooming/vetting, so a relationship has to be developed with them both as well. All that said, he is a super sweet guy to those that he loves, enjoys going on walks as long as strangers don't try to touch him and play with his foster brother in the yard. He will chase a cat! Because he is still working on his manners, we will NOT place him in a home with kids or grand kids. He would greatly benefit from continued training with a behavior modification trainer so that YOU can learn how to speak Sherman. Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older, and always before being placed in their new homes. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at [email protected] or click on the CONTACT link on this page. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. If you live within a five-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.
