About Flash Gordon

Flash Gordon is 5-6 year old, 15 pound Chihuahua mix who came to us from a hoarding situation with a bunch of other dogs. He was timid in his new surroundings and takes a little time to settle in to a new place, but has warmed up in his foster home. He can still get nervous if you move too quickly towards him or if people get loud around him. Once Flash Gordon feels comfortable he LOVES to meet new people and is a very friendly and cuddly guy who gives you plenty of kisses! He loves to play with toys and even likes to take one with him outside to go potty. He sleeps in the big bed with his foster family and is definitely a snuggler! Flash Gordon has always been with other dogs (since he came from hoarding situation), so he would probably do well with at least one doggy buddy, but once he attaches to his person he would be fine as an only dog. He has not been cat or kid tested, but his foster mom thinks he would be fine with kids. He does not do well in a crate, but is well behaved and his foster mom has had zero issues leaving him unsupervised in the home. He would be happiest in a home where he is not left alone for long periods of time, unless he has a buddy. He is potty trained and can use the doggy door on his own, walks well on a leash and likes to go for rides in the car. Flash is a real people pleaser, and will follow direction easily. A fenced yard is highly recommended to give him a safe place to run and play. He is up to date on shots, neutered, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. He is heartworm positive and has started treatment which involves 30 days of Doxycycline, given twice a day, followed by 12 months of Ivermectin. He will be retested at that time and, if still positive, we will provide another 6 months of Ivermectin and retest again at the end of the 6 months. This will continue until the dog tests negative. The rescue supplies the medicine and pays for the tests. Flash Gordon is a very sweet natured little guy who will do well in any home where he gets love and care!
