About Coffee

We are sad to say, the foster to adopt on Coffee (under 1 year Border Collie) did not work out. It was hard for them to say it wasn't going to work but they were doing what was best for probably him and their family. Here is what they had to say about him: He is not motivated by food/treats but response very well to 'good boy' and corrects with 'No!' It has been fun to watch him relax and see his tail upright and wagging! He has overcome his fear of a leash/lead and I was able to walk him out of our yard and a short distance on sidewalk yesterday.He is no longer afraid of our steep second story steps.He is beginning to be more playful. His house training is going well (only 2 accidents) as I take him out every 2/3 hours during the day.He is kennel trained at night. The most concerning and challenging behavior issue is his very strong bonding/imprinting with only one human (Mike) and his intolerance of others who enter our home and yard.He will follow my commands and responds to my praise and affection when Mike is not present but does not want me around when Mike is here and has growled at me and taken a defensive posture when I enter the room. He may need a single adult home. It has been rewarding to foster him this week.We are hopeful that this highly intelligent handsome and loving dog will find the right home environment to thrive.
