About Shiloh Shmaltz

Adoption Fee: $75
Maine Coon / Ragdoll
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Shiloh Shmaltz is a big handsome chocolate black and white long hair male approx. 2yr. His adoption fee is $75. He has been vetted and neutered. He is good with nice cats and older kids. No dogs. He was obviously owned at some point in his life. He made his way to an animal lovers' home for food and eventually she brought him in. PETS ARE FAMILY MEMBERS. PLEASE GET HELP IF YOU CAN NOT KEEP A PET. MAKE THE EFFORT! IT'S A LIFE! Shiloh is a kick back kind of guy. He is not pushy, he is independent and needy but very patient. I don't think he has opened up all the way because my loud dogs barking scares him, probably due to stray dog and coyote encounters while he was on the street. He may still think he belongs outside because he meows sometimes when he sits in the cat tree and looks out into the cat sanctuary at all the other cats. He never tries to run out, is never aggressive and is not destructive. He does love affection and to be brushed but I go to him. He has approached my calm husband for pets while he is sitting at his desk. He LOVES the little girl kitties I bring in the room for company. He perks up and will talk to them. He would like boys too but my boys hiss at him, he turns and walks away with not one growl. He seems confident but bored in the rooms I have to keep him in away from the dogs. He needs a nice mellow place to relax with a patient family that has another kitty for him to love. Maybe interactive toys like feather on a stick and shoe lace drag as well as the Fling ama String and the $2 'cat dancer' toys. He loves kitty treats, a rectangle corrugated scratcher that lays flat on the floor and a tall cat tree sitting in front of the window with the sun rays beaming in. He has been free fed quality hard food (quality meaning the first ingredient begins with meat) and gets up to a can of fancy feast morning and night. Below information is for preventative purposes'| Too many male AND female cats are getting the UTI - urinary tract infection and crystals in their urine. It's a blockage, it's painful and if ignored will lead to death. Vets say the hard food is at fault because it does not deliver enough liquids. It's simple to monitor. Just make sure there is at least one good size pee ball in the litter box a day. Kitty fountains are effective to help manage a cat's fluids. A diet of good quality canned food pate is better than dry food however there are some dry foods that are pH balanced and help maintain Urinary Tract - UT health like Blue Buffalo, Purina Pro Plan, Purina One UT health, Iams UT health. AVOID FISH! Cats/Kittens are an 18 year commitment! They need a cat tree, love and an inside home ADOPT Shiloh Shmaltz FOR LIFE!
