MY MOVIE: Duke ~ https://youtu.be/wDledNIG8_M A volunteer writes: Duke must have heard the song 'Lean On Me' and taken it to heart...because he just loves to lean on me! And the feeling is mutual! He's a total love-bug and wiggled and waggled and leaned-in the minute I started petting him. He's partial to chin-rubs, but back scratches and ear rubs make him very happy, too! He stood up a few times to give me hugs and kisses...the most adorable thing! On our walks, he'd look up at me with sweetest, gentlest face; when I smiled back, he'd stop and sit down with this eager expression, as if he knew he was just too stinking cute to resist (which he is!). I couldn't help but give him some more attention, along with treats. I'm not sure which he enjoyed more, but he was definitely in doggie bliss! Duke walked lovely on a leash and knows 'sit'. (He's really good at it, too!). I just can't enough of this big, sweet, beautiful boy and I'm sure you'll feel the same; so come and meet him today. DUKE, ID# 65932, 2 yrs and 7 mos old, 69.2 lbs, Neutered Male Brooklyn ACC, Large Mixed Breed, Blue Roan Adoption Return Owner Surrender Reason: Shelter Assessment Rating: NEW HOPE ONLY No children (under 13) Single-pet home Recommend no dog parks Medical Behavior Rating: Green OWNER SURRENDER NOTES - BASIC INFORMATION: Duke is an approx 2 year old large gray and white neutered dog that was surrendered to BACC due to not being house trained. Owner had him for the past 7 months and has not taken him to the vet recently. He previously lived with 2 adults and 2 children. When strangers came around the owner either indoors or on walks, he will bark, growl, and pull towards them. Duke has been around two children, ages 5 and 6. He was described as respectful and tolerant of the children. Duke's previous owner describes him as aggressive and dominant around other dogs. He will growl, bark, and lunge towards them. Duke has not been around cats. He has no reported resource guarding. Duke has a bite history with another dog. He bit another dog about 3 weeks ago but did not break skin. Duke is not housetrained and his previous owner describes his energy level as medium. Other Notes: Duke will hide during storms but is not bothered with fireworks. Duke will not go on the furniture, is not bothered when held/restrained, when given a bath he will jump into the bathtub and loves water. Duke is not bothered when brushing his coat or when his paws are touched. He is afraid and will growl when attempting to trim his nails. Duke will bark and growl when strangers come to the home or approach the owner outside. For a New Family to Know Duke is described as affectionate, shy, pushy, excitable, and independent. He loves to run in the yard and when in the home he will stay in his favorite spot. Duke likes to play with toy balls and squeaky toys and will at times play fetch. Duke has been kept mostly indoors and will sleep in his dog bed. Duke has been fed purina and pedigree wet and dry food three times a day. Duke is not house trained and will have daily accidents. He will go potty indoors, bark and whine, and chew on slippers and shoes when left home alone. Duke is well behaved when left alone in the yard and has never been crate trained. He responds to his name and sit. Duke will go running or play in the yard for exercise. He pulls very hard on the leash and wanders when off the leash but come when called. INTAKE NOTES - DATE OF INTAKE, 01-10-2020: Duke had a loose wiggly body when approached, would lean into petting and would allow his back to be scratched. He would take treats gently from counselor's hand, would lay in front of counselor with a relaxed body, and would allowed to be collared with no issues.
