About Teddy Bear

Adoption Fee: $500
Shar-Pei
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Meet Teddy Bear! Or Teddy...Ted...T-Bear...whatever tickles your fancy! Teddy is a 14 month old purebred (no papers) Shar-pei. His mom is a blue pei and his dad is a flower coat pei. Teddy has already had the procedure to have his eyes tacked and is current on vaccinations but will be due for his rabies this year. I have had Teddy since he was about 10 weeks old. Initially, he fit right in with our 3 kids, 4 cats, 2 rabbits and our 85lb pitty Hank. Teddy has been well socialized in a variety of situations and has shown no aggression toward any other dogs (Male or female) and has been great with our cats. He did unfortunately break in to our outdoor rabbit pen and 'played with' our bunnies to death. We chalked this up to puppy foolery as there was no blood, we think he actually did just 'play with them' to death. :( Recently, Teddy has been exhibiting some aggressive behavior toward our kids, particularly our 3 year old which has now come to a head and Teddy did nip my daughter in the face when she reached for a toy he had, and in another incident about a week later he attempted to bite my 13 year old nephew when he sat down on my bed next to Teddy. That said, as a parent I do not feel that I can responsibly keep this dog in my home as my childrens safety is now at stake. It is not my aim to paint Teddy as a bad, aggressive dog. I do not believe this is the case. I'm certain that once he's been neutered and is settled into a child-free home he will continue to grow into the loving, loyal, obedient dog that I know and he has shown me that he is. Again, as a parent I unfortunately can not responsibly afford him the chance to make those behavioral changes in my home and around my young children. We are absolutely heartbroken to make this decision, but we know Teddy deserves another chance in an environment where he and those around him can safely thrive. Aside from private adopters, we are open to rescue/foster organizations that would foster him until a permanent home is found, in which case any adoption fee could go to the organization rather than myself, provided that he is in a private foster home rather than a kennel/shelter setting. Thank you for reading, if you think Teddy could be a good fit for you or your rescue group, please contact me anytime.
