About Ollie Owen

Adoption Fee: $499
Poodle / Lab
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Name: Ollie Owen Sex: Male Spayed/Neutered: Yes Breed: Poodle (Standard) / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (long coat) Weight: 55 lb long and lanky Height: 26 in Estimated Birthdate: 1/4/2017 Fence Needed: Yes Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Adoption Fee:$499 Date into Rescue: 12/19/2018 Reason for being in rescue: Ollie Owen was surrendered by his owners due to behavioral issues. Special Needs: Ollie's left eye pupil does not constrict normally. He has not been evaluated by an ophthamologist, but our general practitioner vet believes his vision is very impaired in that eye and there is most likely not a fix for that. The other eye appears fine. His periperal vision especially on the left is the problem. What kind of home would be best for me: We are seeking a home with an experienced dog owner who can work with food aggression and some resource (crate) aggression. No children under 18 please and a stable and routine oriented person who is looking for a very best friend and willing to understand. Ollie has always been owned by a single person. If a couple wishes to adopt him, we encourage you to make sure both of you use the same cues at all times to make sure Ollie has his routine. What is my personality like: At first he is shy, and a little cautious, once he opens up though, he likes to play with any kind of ball you will throw for him, but he can't catch them. He just lets them bounce off his nose. He knows how to sit and shake and wait and he can give paw. We think he knows more but we've not found them all out yet. He's a very cute and playful boy, who wants a home where he can chase tennis balls (or footballs) all day long, not to mention the occasional squirrel! Ollie gets so excited to meet someone new, he tires to hump, but will stop after some gentle verbal correction and redirection to a positive action (sit/wait/chase ball). He is very, very bright and would excel in something like nosework or rally obedience where eyesight is less important than intuition, intelligence and a good nose. How do I act when I first meet new people: A little shy at first, but quickly wants to play. Tips and Tidbits: Ollie Owen's birthday is 1/14/2017. House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
