Name: Griff Sex: Male Spayed/Neutered: Yes Breed: Golden Retriever / Poodle (Standard) / Mixed (long coat) Weight: 60 lbs Height: 27 in Estimated Birthdate: 4/8/2014 Fence Needed: Yes without exception. Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Adoption Fee:$499 Date into Rescue: 11/08/2018 Reason for being in rescue: Lovingly surrendered by owners because he disliked one of the members in the relationship Special Needs: Griff has a bite history What kind of home would be best for me: Griff needs a low traffic home and an experienced dog owner. He needs a home that will offer him both daily physical and mental exercise. He is bright and if he is bored he can be trouble. He wants an owner who will love him but will let him come to him. Patience and a calm, even personality is a must. Grif does much better with women and would be best in a home with only women. He needs to be the only dog and will not do well with children. What is my personality like: Griff thrives on confident, controlled people who do not show fear. If he thinks you are afraid of him, he will take advantage of you. If he knows you respect him but do not fear him he will lay his heart at your feet. Griff has been trained under a shock collar and it has created a lot of the challenges we are overcoming. He was shocked when he barked. He was shocked when there was any sort of behavior that was deemed 'unacceptable.' It has shaped his behavior in such a way that we are now working to unshape that fear and re-establish trust. Griff is a sweet dog once he knows you. Griff is very timid and takes a while to warm up. He can be a little aggressive in the beginning. He loves to sun bathe outside and is a very calm chill dog when he's comfortable. He's very smart also, he sits and waits for his food and doesn't bark or act crazy. He can resource guard at times also. He does have some barrier aggression when another dog is walking by his run. Griff would enjoy being a couch potato and someone's best friend!! How do I act when I first meet new people: You have to ignore Griff and let him come to you. Don't reach out to him, let him smell you and get comfortable with you. Once he knows you he is a wonderful, loving companion. Our ops manager can do anything with him. Tips and Tidbits: Griff's birthday is 4/8/2014. House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
