About Bear

Someone is looking for a pup like sweet senior Bear! He is a very easy-going lovable little Chihuahua who loves to be in a lap! Bear is 10 years old and weighs 8-9 pounds. He came to us when his owner died. Bear is just a little couch potato! He is happy with his bed and blanket and someone to love. He would sleep in your lap all day long if he could. He does ok with other dogs, but young energetic dogs would be too much for him. He has not been tested with cats and should not go to a home with kids. As long as he goes outside often, he does well with housebreaking, but he will go inside if he has to potty and can't get out. Bear is up to date on shots, neutered, and microchipped with a lifetime registration. He is heartworm positive and has started treatment which involves 30 days of Doxycycline, given twice a day, followed by 12 months of Ivermectin. He will be retested at that time and, if still positive, we will provide another 6 months of Ivermectin and retest at the end of the 6 months. This will continue until the dog tests negative. The rescue supplies the medicine and pays for the tests. 90% of the dogs are negative at the end of the 12 month period as long as you are diligent with the medication.
