About Abby

Adoption Fee: $100
Beagle
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

I am a High Point resident and have had my girl ABBY for 8.5 years. I adopted her and her sibling at the same time back in 2011 they were attached to one another from day one, both even got parvovirus at the same time and it was a long 12 days of back and forth to the vet for help, and learning how to give fluids in the neck and in the anus to keep them both hydrated, the time off work at their young age of maybe 6 months old and my attention and willingness to do anything to save them I feel has made them both even more attached to me. We made it thru that night mare and they have been my everything for 8.5 years. I have always provided them with a doggy door and they have had full freedom to come and go in the back yard and really trained them self in regards to potty training. They could read one an other's mind, they could be both sound asleep and both wake at the same time and get up and get a drink or go outside, they cover them self with blankets and would kill to sleep in my bed. I hate that I am in the need to ask for help for my girl.I am a single male business owner in the process of opening another business that will take me away from the house more than 14 hours a day - November 20 of last year my house caught fire and I lost Libby in this fire. Since then Abby has been a true wreck if I am not with her. They have always been able to deal with my long hours with having a doggy door to do as they wish, but of course loved when I walked in the house. I have had ABBY to the Vets numerous times and the Vet is being extremely helpful in regards to wanting the best for ABBY, ABBY is not able to handle being alone I have a camera in the house I am in that I can see her and it notifies me if she barks or makes a sound. She will consistently yell, this yelling is not just barking it is a heart breaking human sound the she makes and she does it all day long to the extent she works her self up and drinks lots pants very heavy and releases herself in the house. This ONLY happens if she is not on her Meds the Vet put her on, at first she was put on Trazadone, I hated it cause it made her sleep all day long, and people tell me what kind of life is this for her? I attempted to take her off it a couple of times and the pain she felt in her heart was worse each time even though time has gone on, now keep in mind as long as I or someone is around she is perfectly fine. The Vet has now put her on Prozac (a generic) brand to attempt to get her off the Trazadone, I have mentioned to the Vet that people around me tell me I should have her put down, this makes me extremely hurt because this baby has zero idea what or why she is feeling and doing what she is doing, I live in a rented house provided by my insurance company the does not have a doggy door. If I am not home not with her on the meds she sleeps all day long. When I do come home she screams for a few moments then once she realizes I am home to stay with her she can and does calm down. So this brings me to why I am reaching out, I attempted to adopt her out to a retired elderly lady that had a 10 year old dog and she felt ABBY would be a great fit because she was at home all day. After 6 days she brought ABBY back saying that her dog went into a depression and was acting out. I do not know the real truth and perhaps that is.I again am reaching out due to my Mother explaining that a rescue group is exactly what this type of situation is for, first please understand I wish she was OK enough to deal with my schedule however once my new business opens I will be gone 7 days a week from 8 am to 11 pm.So my question is - does this type of situation sound survivable for my ABBY, she and LIBBY never were socialized with other dogs and they never liked being around other dogs not in a mean way but in a loner type of way, they also have never been around and do not understand the attention from a child - I hope it is possible that I maybe able to find a true home for her with an elderly couple or person that needs a true loving companion that will understand she is hurting in her heart and I can not say if she will ever get over her loss, I do not know what she heard or saw that night my fear is she heard her Sister yell. She is fixed and chipped and up to date on all her shots and she is 28 pounds, about 6 to 7 over weight (I am a sucker for those beagle eyes just watching me eat) I again HATE that I will lose her - I do NOT want to but I want to do what is best for her. It should be known I will want proof of your home as same on your Drivers Licensee and Verified You own the home - I know she will be best off with someone that is home every day and it should be important enough that you have a doggy door into a fenced back yard. Older Couple or Single retired only Thank You
