About Zoey

German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Aloof and wary at first, shy Zoey let's you know you are part of her inner circle when she sweetly leans into your legs and gently licks your face. While she carries herself like a queen in her photos, Zoey's regal posture hides the lack of confidence she feels in new situations, around new people. Zoey is sight impaired which may explain her nervousness around unfamiliar things. Before coming to the shelter she did live for 2 months in a home with adults, children, and other dogs, but spent much of her time hiding inside the house. It seems that particular situation was just too much for this nearly blind and under socialized dog, who up until that time had been used primarily for breeding. Zoey, who is strong and healthy at just 2 years old, still has a lot of life to live! She prefers walking on leash with one of our other shelter dogs, Asher, so she might appreciate having another friendly dog in the home to 'show her the ropes.' Zoey is housebroken as long as she is able to go outside regularly; she can handle a few steps at a time, but an entire staircase would be difficult and risky. We think a home without children would be best. She will require gentle care givers who have time and patience. We think her loyalty and love are well worth the effort. If you are someone who values 'special needs' pets, and if you want to change the 'impossible' into 'I'm possible' for Zoey, please contact Tri-County Animal Rescue Center on Facebook, call 814-918-2032, or email: [email protected]
