About Hammy

Adoption Fee: $100
Corgi mix
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Hammy is a great dog and has been with me for 5 years. I adopted Hammy at three years old, and at that time he was being left outside with a shock collar on (he has a loud bark and he is very vocal) with an untreated severe reaction of flea related dermatitis. He was aggressive with unknown men. But after some years of love and working with a professional trainer, Ham will mostly just bark at new friends while they're coming through the door and then expect pets and treats from them Hammy is fine with older kids that are respectful to animals, and does like little kids for shorter period of time and supervision, but he shouldn't be in a home where he lives with smaller children full time. I am unfortunately having to rehome my sweet Hammy after realizing my baby is getting older and more handsy with ham and even with constant supervision it is potentially dangerous for both of them. He also needs to be the only dog in the home. He does enjoy playing with some other dogs if they are properly introduced on neutral ground or are a dog he is familiar with. He LOVES cats. He LOVES going on walks, hikes, to the beach, etc. He is very smart, and knows several tricks like sit, lay down, stay, shake, 'dance' and the best ...he will say 'I love you!'. Ham is healthy other than needing to take prescription oral flea medication. Ham would do best in a specific type of home. Preferably with a single woman or couple that is childfree or has older children. People who are semi-active and will chase him around the yard, take him for walks, and give him a lot of love and attention. He definitely likes to be the center of attention in the household, the 'baby' if you will! I love this dog with all of my heart, this is not something I would ever do if I didn't feel it was the best and most responsible option. If Ham is placed with someone and it isn't working out, my preference is that he comes back to our family. If you're interested in Hammy, I prefer to be emailed at [email protected] with a little information about why you think you'd be a good fit for Hammy, any questions you may have, and a way to contact you.
