About Bella

Meet Miss Bella! Bella was an owner surrender. Most her her life she was allowed to roam her owner's property and we got the impression they didn't spend any time with her. Bella came to us scared and not very socialized at all. She adores other dogs, kids, and doesn't mind cats. Bella has been with us since late November 2018, and in that amount of time she has made GREAT improvements! She has always been very gentle, but timid. Small movements and noises use to scare her. Sometimes it still does, but she is getting more and more used to people each day. We truly believe that once Bella gets the opportunity to leave the shelter setting, she will THRIVE. The loud noises of the shelter life scare her. This dog is a dream for anyone wanting an obedient dog, or to train her to do a job. She walks very well on a leash, responds well to commands and enjoys her long walks with our volunteers. Lately she has been placing her head in their laps when they stop to rest along a walk. We hate seeing her so scared of the shelter. Away from the shelter, she is able to focus on 'sit, stay, heel, and place.' A few times she has slipped away from us, but she just makes her rounds and comes right back. She would make the perfect working animal!!! The most important thing Bella needs right now is a foster home away from the shelter!.....but better yet, a forever family!! She has been exposed to older and very young children and seems very comfortable with them petting and loving her. She is about 1 year old, and has tested positive for heartworms, which she will be treated for them soon by the shelter veterinarian.
