About Benny

Miniature Pinscher / Beagle
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Benny is my lovable and super smart but very fearful 3-year-old dog. We got him as a puppy from an owner whom we suspect tried to dock his tail. He has trust issues. What's worse, one of the dog trainers we sent him to was later closed for abusing animals. He has bitten my wife twice in the face, as well as bitten us and our stepdaughter in the hands and feet - but always out of a fear aggressive reaction. He's never gone up to someone or another dog and just bitten him. He hangs back and bites out of fear/insecurity. Benny needs someone who understands his trust issues and has the patience and know-how to get him to warm up to them. He's very cuddly and loves to sleep under the blankets. He's also an outdoor dog that needs to run around a lot. I've never known a dog to crave human contact as much as he does, which makes it so heartbreaking that he also bites sometimes out of fear, something he always immediately regrets (he runs to his bed). He knows all basic commands and even a few tricks. Very food and toy motivated. He's a quick learner and very eager to please. He just has certain triggers which make him unsafe to keep around my stepdaughter. Otherwise I would keep him and work with him as long as he stayed healthy - that's how special he is. If you're interested in at least fostering Benny for a while, please contact me as soon as possible, as he is currently scheduled for euthanasia on the 2/10 - which would be a tremendous waste of such a beautiful but troubled soul.
