About Olive

Olive is a 1 year old Cattle Dog mix who came to AZSDR from County very fearful, pregnant and underweight. She gave birth to 7 puppies on Thanksgiving day. She has fully recovered from giving birth and is a perfect weight of 39.8 pounds full grown. With her foster family she has been house broken, but has also been potty pad trained. Olive is leash trained and loves to go for walks, runs and hikes. Due to still being fearful at times she can never be off of her leash if not in a gated area and will require a home with a secure back yard. Olive is learning basic commands but still needs work and is also kennel trained for short periods of time ONLY. Olive has been introduced to cats and has done well with other dogs of all sizes. She is very playful and can be rough so dogs her size and bigger are preferred. She will only go to a home who understands her fearful condition and that she will need long term patience and commitment. Olive must have a canine companion in her forever home as it helps her confidence and stops her from hiding. Olives fear causes her to be people selective and younger children scare her. Her foster home had a 13 year old boy and she has done great with him and his friends but again is selective at times. Olive would do best in a home with no young children and humans that will respect her boundaries and will go at her pace. She has never been aggressive and just wants to run and hide. An application, meet and greet as well as a home check will be required prior to adoption. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and vet checked.
