About Ragnar

American Staffordshire Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

The time has finally come for our sweet and brave hero and warrior Ragnar (aka Rags) to find his furever family and home. It won't be easy for us to let this special boy go because he's touched the hearts of so many but he deserves his happy furever after. Rags is a 2-3 year old American Staffordshire Terrier. He's got a shiny black coat with some natural brown highlights and weighs about 70 lbs. He's the sweetest and most gentlest boy who just wants to love and be loved. Rags is a pretty laid back guy and wants to be everyone's friend. He loves to snuggle on the couch and bed and he's also vain as he just loves to look at himself in the mirror and anything with glass. He seems to do well with most dogs, cats and kids but meets are always required. He takes treats gently (he absolutely loves pizza), and knows how to sit, stay, come and give paw. He's still a little nervous, shy and cautious so he will need his new family to be patient and go slow with him, let him adjust and open up to them on his terms and at his pace. He would do best in a quieter environment. In case you don't know his story, Rags didn't have an easy time before he joined us from South Carolina. He was found pretty much lifeless and had almost given up hope until he was found by his heroes on 8/22/19 and taken to the local shelter. That's when we saw him and reached out to our contacts down at the shelter and confirmed him safe with us. He was immediately transported to a local vet where he stayed in ICU until 9/3/19 when he flew up to us on his private plane ahead of Hurricane Dorian. Upon his arrival at the vet down there, Rags was too weak to even stand as he was incredibly and severely emaciated and anemic, one of the worst cases our friends from the shelter and the vet had ever seen come in, plus he was heartworm positive. But Rags fought hard like the Warrior he is and has been doing absolutely pawmazing. He's gained over 35 lbs, he's filling out and his black coat has grown back beautifully. He finished his heartworm treatment 6 weeks ago and he was just re-tested when got neutered on 1/30/20 and no signs of heartworm! He also has grade 1-2 heart murmur which he's taking medication for currently. Only the best home will be the right fit for our warrior. If you think you got what it takes to give him his happy furever after, please submit our application to be considered. It's available on our website www.noahsarps.com
